Teen Groov Dance CREW -- Not Project

The difference between a Crew and a Project, as told to Emeroy Bernardo:
Anyone can get a group of talented dancers and do a routine. Come in, do the work and bounce. That's a project. But a real crew -- a family -- knows each other from the inside out. They would take a bullet for each other.
Teen Groov is a family. A new member of ours told me a few hours ago, "gonna be a great season. you guys are like family to me," to which I replied, "trust me, it'll get so much better!" That's how you know you've got a tight crew; right from the start, the family atmosphere can be felt, and it's welcoming!

Dance: The Poem

decided to make this when I was in my safe spot driving to Vegas.

Dance

A way to express yourself without words.
A way to express your emotions through your body.
Dance is art.
You can paint pictures and create masterpieces.
Dance is literature.
You can write a poem and discover the moral of a story.
Dance is music.
You can create beats and serenade others.
Dance is the sky.
It has no limits.
Dance is delivering a new chance of expressions.
Dance is life.

Just something to think about as we soar into 2011.
Happy New Year everyone!

Christmas Time!

For many, the holiday season is reaching its high point. It's Christmas eve, and what better to do than update the Teen Groov blog! Of course, TG has members of other religions, but Christmas is a wonderful time to spend with family and loved ones. Everyone celebrates differently, from huge feasts with every member of the extended family, to chinese food while snuggling up and watching movies with your parents and dog.
Teen Groov and our friends Family Bizness did a collaboration photo/video shoot called A FamGroov Christmas. Check out FamBiz's blog at http://www.fambizfb.blogspot.com for some photos and info about when the video will be up, and also to watch our performance at Jayvee Dance Center's Jingle Jam Benefit Show!
Teen Groov wants to wish you all a joyous holiday season filled with love and laughter!

Cheers!

PS. We'd love to hear what everyone's doing for the holidays; comments are greatly appreciated!

The TG story...and you

In the beginning, Teen Groov was all-female. We've been co-ed since our fifth season, and we placed third at Urban Street Jam in February, 2010.But this past season, we were back to being a small, all-female crew again, just by sheer luck. It's been great; we became a real sisterhood. With a small team, it's so much easier to organize social dates where everyone can hang out together. And, we can just be GIRLY. Our set for Maxt Out 2010 was called Summer Girls, and that's what we were. We kept the summer-fun feel alive into the end of autumn with our upbeat mix and feminine vibes.

Everything can't be perfect. There was a downside. Having a small team of young ladies is great for hanging out, but on stage, a big team with a strong connection makes for a great performance. You know what they say: Safety in numbers. When it came right down to it, nine girls in a division of crews with thirty, forty, or even fifty members had a small chance of acheiving a title.

That's why we need YOU. Come join the Teen Groov family. We're welcoming boys and girls from ages 11-18 to our workshops and audition on December 10-12 (see flyer in recent posts). Hope to see you there!
